What is physical fitness?
Physical fitness can be divided into two categories: health-related and skill-related.
Health-related physical fitness consists of body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance
Skill-related physical fitness consists of speed, coordination, agility, balance, power, and reaction time.
Health-related physical fitness in good condition denotes that organs like heart, blood vessels, lungs and muscular tissues can function efficiently to support all aspects of daily lives as well as to cope with emergency condition.
Body Composition
In this perspective, body composition is the percentage of fat tissues versus fat-free tissues (such as muscles, bones, water and other organs). Keeping an ideal body weight is crucial to the healthy body composition. Having obesity may be a result of excessive fat tissues in the body composition, which could make people suffer from chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction. “BMI”, or Body Mass Index, is an index that is calculated from the height and the body weight to evaluate if a body is overweight or underweight. It is also one of the measures to assess the body composition.
